Experimental evidence for proton tunnelling as a cause of spontaneous mutations by Johnjoe McFadden, University of Surrey United Kingdom

Abstract. In this talk, I will provide a brief overview of the emerging field of Quantum Biology and its insights into a wide range of phenomena from enzyme action to bird navigation, photosynthesis, inflammation and DNA mutation. I will go on to describe recent studies in my laboratory that provide strong evidence of quantum mechanics playing a role in mutation and, thereby, evolution, ageing , and cancer.
