Dear Members of the EUNPD Network,
I am writing on behalf of the EU Nonproliferation and Disarmament
Consortium (https://www.nonproliferation.eu
<https://www.nonproliferation.eu/>) and the Stockholm International
Peace Research Institute (https://www.sipri.org <https://www.sipri.org/>).
OnApril8-11, 2025, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute
(SIPRI) and the EU Nonproliferation and Disarmament Consortium (EUNPDC)
are planning to conduct anintensiveonlinecoursefor students of technical
disciplinesor natural science disciplinestitled “WMDnon-proliferation
and disarmament”.
The course will cover the fundamentals of nuclear, chemical and
biological weapons; the non-proliferation and disarmament regimes
designed to control them; the impact of novel technologies and recent
geopolitical changes on WMD proliferation, disarmament, and nuclear
security; the proliferation risks associated with natural sciences and
engineering skills and knowledge; as well as potential career paths in
non-proliferation and disarmament of WMD. The course will also discuss
the role of the EU institutions and industry to address the challenges
mentioned above.
Course instructors will include renowned experts on non-proliferation,
arms control, disarmament, export controls, verification and related
subjects from SIPRI, other European research centres, think tanks and
international organizations. The language of instruction is English.

*PhD student position on tracking detector R&D and particle physics
outreach*
Dear colleagues,
We are looking for a PhD student to work on tracker R&D for FCC and, in
case of interest, feasibility studies for heavy flavour physics or
feebly-interacting particles. The PhD student will also work on a small
project on AI with Disney Research Studios to develop novel unsupervised
AI. Finally, there will be some outreach activities to promote the FCC
project with comics. The student will be based in Lausanne (EPFL) with
